9 Min of Win

If you didn't already know I'm a huge fan of the classic jJap cars, something about their square bodies and the way they look with a little low and a nice set of period correct wheels just does it for me.
I can't tell you how sick I am of seeing classic Japanese cars ruined in NZ by Dumpy's, Rotors and giant F*c#ing chromes with the worst offset you have ever seen. Thankfully there are a select few doing it right the scene seems to be making it's way towards being done abit better more frequently.

So anyway, last night while browsing through the zillions of videos our world wide web is tangled with I came across this video which basically sums up everything I love about Japanese cars, more precisely its older ones.

This clip is about 9 minutes of pure winning in my books, it features everything from a Mark ii Wagon (my dream car) being thrown around the track sideways along with a 240z, an EF Civic race featuring a safety car that seems to have gotten bored and joined in sirens and all, a drag race between two amazing examples of a Hakosuka and a 240z, I would probably lose a testicle to own either of them. Plus a tubbed AE86? an 80's Hiace van and a truckload more footage of Drool worthy 240z's and Hachi's.

One day (fingers crossed) the phresh n phruity crew will make it to Japan , although im not sure any of us will make it through customs as we'll be frothing at the mouth with excitement and they will probably think we're diseased. But if we do I'm sure I'm never going to want to leave.

An update on the Civic and Cressida progress coming soon....

Rolling deeep

You may have noticed on Milk's last post that the photo of his black Evo looks a little bit smhmicker than your average. This was one of many I took last weekend while rolling about in the dirty Hutt Valley. It was a pretty decent day weather wise, so out we went, three cars deep, Conan and Bryce in the Evo, Milk and I in the BMW and Bede and Livvy in Bede's immaculate RX7.

Having never tried taking rolling shots, it was tons of fun hanging my arms out of the bumpied beemer snapping shots of the other cars as they boosted past.

Here are a select few to feast your eyes on, perhaps one day soon we could do a full feature on Bede's RX7, or maybe some nice shots of Bryce's Silvia?

Rotary or piston, which do you prefer?

This last one Milk took of both of his cars, of which he has secured deposits from buyers for... What comes next I wonder??

Never ending list...

One side of my brain tells me to grow up while the other provides me with the means to feed my addiction. Healthy for the bank account but not so much the patience levels. Cars seem to take up about ninety percent of my life and I love it.

I thought I would do a little post on a few cars I have enjoyed over the last couple years.

It all started with a particular blue Evolution IV.

This car is what started it all, I had owned a few before cars and trucks before this one but she was a keeper. Admittedly I spent far too much money on it and treated it better than most children in lower income areas but she was my baby. I regret selling it to this day!

I think after a mild breakdown, I ended up with this because I wanted a turbo...

My love for the early Mazdas got the better of me. Who am I kidding? It was a stupid mistake. It was a normal Ford Laser station wagon with a 1600 DOHC Turbo motor in it, certified and everything. Was a pity it hated life, liked wheel spinning and broke down more times than I can keep track of. This is the reason I am not allowed any more Mazdas.... Ever.

Then came the Mercedes..

Again... Why I sold this car I dont know...
Never broke down, never used oil, never missed a beat... But the floor did fall out..
I've still got the plates, and I'm still on the look out for a tidy one, so who knows?

Missed the Evo IV and tried to fill the gap..

It was new, low mileage, amazing to drive... but didnt quite cut the mustard... I didn't have a car seat or a child to put in my family spec lancer with a hairdryer! So of course, it went on trademe.

I thought I was 16 again like when the older Evo's first started popping up and found this...

A genuine Evolution III for the reason of... Actually, the only reason I wanted it was because its genuine... Wait, it's a pearler!

3 Series BMW

Airbag suspension... Enough said.

So right now I am trying to sell the BMW and the Evo III.... Who knows what's next ;)

This list keeps growing, It keeps me off any other possible substance of addiction and it's a pretty sweet hobby.

Phresh is going to write a post for our adventure today....

Thanks to Phresh for all the grammar correction....

Dorkland...

So... It has been a while...

I'm supposed to be sleeping because I came home from work with a horrible migraine... Good things take time!

Mr Phresh introduced the latest purchase of Phresh, Phruity & Co
(The addition of Co, is for our new critic Conan... Who can write his own introductory post)

The three of us went to Auckland a few Sundays ago for a number of reasons... It was an early start as I was picked up at 7am for an 8.20am flight, as usual I was feeling a tad rough!

7.30am - We go through a checkpoint and Sir Conan is not wearing his seatbelt... Woops...

8.20am - Too busy gas bagging and almost miss the final boarding call for our flight... Sort of held up the plane...

9.10am - We land in Auckland, grab a Coffee and wait for our ride.. Which I then fell asleep in until we arrived at our destination and collected this!

Watch this space

We came home with a near immaculate EF civic sedan, NZ new, less than 100k on the clock and it drives like a dream.. I am genuinely jealous, I wish my bouncy little Civic was this tidy!

Personally, I had a hidden agenda... I wanted Dunkin Doughnuts.. If you look at the photo, you can see I got a couple (No I didnt buy five dozen).

It was then off to Wendys, where we all put on about five kilos and felt pretty sorry for ourselves afterwards.. Well worth it!

The drive home could of been the best part, I have never talked so much shit about nothing my whole life! We stopped too many times, met a fellow with a sexy Audi RS4 wagon and yelled gertntafan about a million times.

We have decided that I am not allowed to purchase any Mazdas and that Phresh HAS to buy a E30 BMW, as for Conan... Well who knows what is next...

Just a little update to whet the appetite for next time...

Bagged things.. I mean big things are happening behind the scenes so stay tuned!

Gettinrravan!

Last Sunday was an eventful day, full of Donuts, early morning flights and hours of road time. I'm gonna let Milk tell the full story, but here is a quick pic of the reason for the trip, Conan's new ride. This could mean the Cressida is up for sale, holla at us if you keen.
